April brings a profusion of spring flowers, along with longer, warmer days. As you begin to spend more time outdoors in the spring weather, make sure to plan on attending these family friendly events around town. 

City of Monroe:

DockDogs Spring Splashdown on the Town Green : April 17th and 18th 9:00am - 4:00pm

Monroe will welcome DockDogs® again this April! If your dog loves to run, jump and swim then DockDogs is definitely the right place for you. They welcome any breed, any mix, any size to come out and join their Dock Diving®  family.  You can find out more about the events that will be a part of the competition here.  Everyone is more than welcome to come and cheer on our furry competitors during the 2-day event.  Food Trucks will be on site both days for a day of family fun!   To register for the competition visit DockDogs website.

Community Clean Up Day : April 29th, at 9:00am

Address: Monroe City Hall, 215 N Broad St., Monroe, 30655

The event will start at City Hall to then spread out across the downtown areas, cemeteries, parks, community streets, and neighborhoods to clean up areas and collect loose debris and trash from roadsides. Everyone in the community is invited to join, school groups, church groups, businesses, any and all. Safety vests, grabbers, trash bags, and gloves will be provided as needed.

City of Winder:

TGIFF Presents: Art in the Park + Lantern Parade : April 7th from 6:00pm - 9:00pm

Address:  Jug Tavern Park, 139 E. Athens St., Winder, Georgia 30680

It’s First Friday in Winder which will celebrate the Arts! Complete with the variety of culinary artists (Food trucks) Performance artists (live music) and fun at Jug Tavern Park!
Take part in the art walk located near Jug Tavern Park where you can admire and learn about local artists.
Be intrigued by the Granite Goddess living statue.
Make a lantern for free at the activity tents to be part of the lantern parade which will showcase all of the creativity of our attendees.
Stay for the finally with will include a fire show which will blow your mind.

Student and Local Artist Gallery & Auction : April 13th from 6:00pm - 10:00pm

Address:  Winder Community Center, 113 E. Athens St., Winder, 30680

Feast your eyes on the curated collection of visual art pieces produced by Barrow County Schools Students along with pieces from local artists in the Winder Community Center downtown.
Enjoy an artsy cocktail hour with beer and wine, and fancy hors d’oeuvres.
Bid on your favorite piece of artwork and soak in the social scene with live music.

Barks, Baas, and Brushes : April 20th, from 6:00pm - 9:00pm

Address: Jug Tavern Park , 139 E Athens St., Winder 30580

Come enjoy a unique planar panting class hosted at Jug Tavern Park. At Barks, Baas and Brushes, you'll be joined with puppies and goats during the one-hour class.
Pick your favorite goat or pup to create a masterpiece on a 8x 10 canvas to take home. Another take home item, make your own fragrance rollerball from essential oils.

Winder Wander - Art Scavenger Hunt : April 28th, from 11:00am - 1:00pm

Address:  Downtown Winder, Georgia 30680

The Art Scavenger Hunt will take you on an interactive tour all around Downtown Winder taking home some beautiful artwork!
Clues will be posted on Social Media platforms Facebook and Instagram Friday Morning. Get the list and start the hunt from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Don’t forget to engage on social media, take selfies while you search and post them with the #WinderEvents #WinderWander hashtags and tag @cityofwinder!
